Bavaria is located in south eastern Germany and is the largest federal state in the country. The capital of Bavaria is the well known and the cultural city of Munich. The state is known for its music and theatre as well as the popular Octoberfest which takes place in Munich and has been running for over 200 years. Bordering Bavaria are Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland and the German States Baden-Wuerttemberg, Thuringia, Hesse and Saxony. Bavaria is over 27,000 square miles in size and is full of variety, you can visit the ski resort of Zugspitze or visit Bavaria’s Lake District.

There are seven regions in Bavaria, all offering a unique way of life which include:

  • Upper Franconia - Known for the largest density of breweries in the world. 
  • Middle Franconia - Bursting with history and one of the top European locations for medical technology 
  • Upper Palatinate- Great for tourism with excellent transport links
  • Swabia - Cultural and historic, popular for milk and dairy
  • Lower Bavaria - Full of nature and charm
